Analysis of Finished Front Cover and Contents Page for Preliminary Task.

Analysis of Finished Front Cover: The theme of this magazine is it’s a college magazine so I chose to use a college environment to place my models for the front cover image. I chose to use to students at the college to sit at a table reading through notes as this shows what college is like.
I have defiantly gone for the more informal magazine because that’s what my target audience wanted and because I thought it would sell better at a college to draw them into reading it more.
The two students on the front of the magazine are positioned so that one is staring at the camera and the other is reading the notes on the table, I think this works well as they are both not staring at the camera which makes it more interesting, and it also shows that the pose is suggesting it’s a relaxed environment.
For the lighting of the image I chose to make the background black and white and keep the colour on the two students because I wanted them to stand out from the rest of the image so it was all about them. Therefore I picked out certain colours from what they were wearing to decide on a colour scheme for my magazine. I only wanted to use a couple of colours so it didn’t make the front cover to busy and it is also easier to carry through the magazine.
The only props I used was the notebook and the table and I chose these because it shows off a college lifestyle of things most college students would have and use on a daily basis, and I only used two because I wanted to keep it simple.
From looking at existing magazines I knew I had to include a barcode, price and date it was being issued so it looked more like a proper magazine.


Analysis of Finished Contents Page:
For my contents page I tried to keep the theme going from the front cover and keep it all to do with college basics. So I chose to use a picture of a blank note pad to use as my background for my contents page, this also ties in well with my front cover because the two students are looking through a note pad and this could be what is on the page.
The colour scheme has also stayed the same from the front cover to the contents page and kept it to two colours so it doesn’t get too overcrowded.
There is only one image on the contents page and this is of a college notice board, showing upcoming events around the college and daily college news.
