In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My magazine is mainly focused on the indie style of music verging on indie/rock. Many of the bands mentioned in the magazine fit into this genre very well with a few just outside this genre in its own way.
The title of my magazine is TUNE music magazine, the reason for this I felt it was quite a good name because I thought many of the readers would be into playing instruments and into music in general, and tune fits into both of these ideas. The font style I got my idea from the existing magazine NME, I chose a similar type of font as that works so well and helps the name stand out a lot. All the images within my music magazine also relate to my genre of magazine and would be what you would expect a person of their age to dress like with this music influence. The feature article in my magazine I chose to photograph my friend with an indie style, she is wearing a checked shirt which is what a lot of people in this genre seem to own, also I chose to use a younger model to show what sort of age range I was aiming at, 17+.
On my front cover, contents page and feature article there are all different aspects to show this is an indie genre magazine and on each one I have tried to do something different. On the front cover I have mentioned various bands like the Arctic Monkeys and Biffy Clyro who are very popular in this genre scene. My contents page is a little bit different to other regular music magazines that I have looked at and I liked how I done this slightly different to make it my magazine style. The indie genre is noticed straight away with the type of festivals mentioned on the contents page and which festivals are the biggest hit with these types of people. Finally on my feature article I have used an indie style model and tried to keep the interview so these groups of people would be interested.
On my music magazine I have tried to keep to a certain house style, for this I have used the same font throughout the whole magazine for various different types of writing. For example the mast head on each page I have tried to use Gill Sans Ultra Bold but different sizes depending on where abouts in the magazine it is. Although I have used a different font for the mast head on my contents page as I wanted this to stand out in a different way so I used Tekton Pro font. Most of the less important writing that doesn’t need to stand out so much is in Gill Sans MT font and all the writing is in black except the questions and bits of information that need to stand out more.
